Wine Sentience

Loire Valley history is impressive, fragmented by figures of lore throughout the years: Pliny the Elder, Da Vinci, Joan of Arc. Prior to the French Revolution, the Loire held an immense amount of influence - and, unsurprisingly, so did the wines. But modern history hasn’t favored the region so heartily and, subsequently the formerly prized wines began to lose an audience and traditional winemaking started taking a back seat to that which could be made en masse.

That is, until recently. The formerly overlooked region has became host to a new breed of winemakers and grape growers looking to eschew commercialization and to eradicate adopted norms.

This has included the expansion of vines into areas that had long been neglected in; challenging the notion of short élevage time in tank to produce “quaffable” wines; replanting indigenous varieties that had nearly been lost Diversity in grape varieties, styles of wines, and spectrum of flavor is at an all time due in great part to the rebellious spirited winemakers of the modern Loire.

The line up will include wines from Jean-François Chene (La Coulée d’Ambrosia0, Domaine Mosse, Thierry Germain, Domaine Guiberteau, Catherine & Pierre Breton, Pierre-Olivier Bonhomme, Patrick Bouju (Domaine La Bohème) and Nathalie Gaucher Hérédia.
