La Fête de la Musique is back this year at Alliance Française Wellington !

Come and get warm with a glass of wine and a piece of cheese while listening to our artists!

First, Belgian singer Donatienne Brasseur will take us back to the Middle Ages. She is visiting from Belgium this year. In New Zealand, she is networking for interesting projects, playing music and sculpting her clay pieces. Donatienne is a behavioural specialist but sometimes she runs into interesting side projects like this interpretation of a religious mediaeval music manuscript written in mediaeval Picard language.

Then, Emilia Gray, a young and talented student of ours, will sing a French classical piece. She has a passion in life: music, both classical and contemporary. Recently she became interested in classical singing, which encouraged her to attend voice classes as part of the Young Musicians Programme at Victoria University.

And to end this beautiful evening, Tim Thorpe’s Trio will pay a tribute to Wellington-born Graeme Allwright hailed in France as a legendary folk, jazz and protest musician. This band is composed of 3 musicians and singers from New Zealand and France who enjoy playing folk music from various parts of the world and play regularly at the music club of Upper Hutt.
