Korihi Finale 2020

We would love to invite you and your whanau and friends to be in the studio audience for Korihi Finale 2020. Korihi is a singer-songwriting competition, where people from the 7 Māori electoral regions across Aotearoa were able to enter by composing and singing their own Waiata with COVID-19 – Lockdown One as the main focus. A people’s choice voting system has chosen the finalists who will make their way to Auckland for the Finale. The finalists are made up of soloists, duet’s and trio’s and even a rangtahi band all the way from Gisborne. All finalists will be singing to a live band and are ready to share their experiences of COVID-19 through song. Korihi will be presented by none other Matai Smith and Rahia Timutimu. In the lead up to the Finale, our songbirds have been mentored by well-known and homegrown artists such as Laughton Kora, Seth Haapu, Troy King, Taisha Tairi and Bella Kalolo and we are excited to have some of the mentors join us for the Finale.

The winner will take home a $5,000 cash prize plus the opportunity to nominate a chosen charity of their choice to receive $50,000!
