‘Ko rātou, ko tātou | On Otherness and Us-ness: Women of Islam, from inside and alongside’ pays homage to the New Zealand Muslim community devastated by the horrific events in Christchurch of 15 March 2019. Curated by Salama Moata McNamara and Sonja van Kerkhoff, the poignant show by artists from diverse backgrounds will include responses to the theme in various media, highlighting the role of women in Islam and reactions to Islamophobia.

Pakistani artist Narjis Mirza will present a site-specific light projection with a sound piece, while other works will relate more directly to the massacre or to empathy. The opening event takes place on Sunday 15 March, exactly a year after the tragedy, and the show then runs daily until 1 April.
