Kiwijam

Kiwijam is New Zealand's Game Jam, and it's back on this year for 2020, both online and in-person! During Kiwijam, you'll be working in teams or alone to design and make a new cool game in just 48 hours. It's a race against time where you'll get to experiment and try out new ideas, then share them with the rest of the participants at the end. Kiwijam is designed for everyone from intermediate to rest home and doesn't require any past experience.

If this is your first time - great! You'll meet people who will be able to help out and give you your first taste of game development. If you're a life-tested veteran of game design? Awesome! Practice your finely-honed skills in a chaotic and creative environment, and by the end you'll have learnt something new. You'll also be able to try out crazy ideas that wouldn't otherwise have seen the light of day, and have them tested by a diverse and supportive crowd.

What You'll Learn

If you’ve entered a hackathon before, then you know what’s up. Whether this is your first time working on a game or are a veteran of the industry, game jams are your opportunity to connect with people passionate about making things and for you to try your hand at building a game! During the competition, you’ll be working against the clock to push through each stage of development – from the initial concept to the final marketing. You’ll learn more than you thought was possible and by the end you’ll have made new friends and tried new things.
