What are humans being? This text art is chaotic, poetic, compassionate and challenging. It’s a wild exploration of moods and visions through painted words.

A solo exhibition from Stephanie Christie, I’ve never felt more human is a collection of works made over the last four years featuring some large pieces and many smaller series of works. Having devoted this time to exploring the starting possibilities of text art, this is a chance for Stephanie to lay out her findings so far…

A significant portion of the exhibition consists of works from 2020 investigating Christie’s internal responses to the crazy events of this year with the creation of works also being Christie’s way of coping with what has unfolded.

Stephanie comments that, “one of the key things I’ve needed to face as I make text art is the marks that I make. They are often chaotic, hard to understand, or childish. Not beautiful, not serene, as so many want art (and life) to be. But by keeping on making stuff, I’ve come to appreciate that my work has its own power that’s able to connect with other people. My weaknesses become strengths in what I create. As long as I’m honest with myself, show up for my work, and stay present as I create, interesting things keep happening”.

The official opening evening for I’ve never felt more human will be running in The Meteor’s Nancy Caiger Gallery on Monday, September 28 from 6 pm-8 pm.
