This workshop offers a creative approach to empower children to explore their identities. It will inspire them to develop artistic skills to draw, expand their cognitive and creative aptitudes and raise their awareness about diversity and inclusion.

Description: A series of portraits from different artists will be shown to the children. Looking at mirrors they will draw their own faces inspired by the artists' artworks. They will bring home their own portrait.

Ages: 5 to 10 years old.
Technique: drawing
Materials are included.
Location: The Arts Centre Te Matatiki Toi Ora
("Maker Workshop" Room - the entrance will be on the corner of Rolleston Avenue and Hereford Street, opposite the YMCA)

Artists:
Robbi Carvalho, architect, artist, illustrator and jewellery designer. She teaches art classes to people with intellectual disabilities at Art for Life studio and supported several contemporary art workshops for children as a volunteer for Scape Public Art.

Carolina Nery, master’s in art, also an artist and architect. Currently working as a childhood teacher and researcher at Canterbury University for the Arts and Politics department as part of a project focused on improving Young people’s lives.

Working with children and youth is our passion and we gather more than 10 years of experience applying and teaching creative approaches for different ages.
