In this illustrated talk Amy Gaimster, HeritageNZ, will explain how her interest in historic wallpaper and interiors developed, her experience of working at the William Morris Gallery, London, with its internationally important collection of 19th-century decorative art, before giving an overview of Heritage New Zealand’s extensive collection of wallpaper.
Amy Gaimster began volunteering in museums at the age of 14; her curatorial job was at the British Museum where she was fortunate enough to work in two different departments. She later became Deputy Keeper at the William Morris Gallery, before becoming Head of Heritage for Barking & Dagenham Council.
She is currently Property Lead for Heritage New Zealand’s Auckland houses: Alberton, Ewelme Cottage and Highwic.
