The Hawke’s Bay Embroiderers’ Guild is in its 45th year.
The Guild, which is an incorporated society, has 69 members and meets monthly in the Rotary Lounge in Taradale. They also have three regular stitch groups and workshops from time to time.
There are 58 Guilds around New Zealand under the umbrella of a parent organization – ANZEG (The Association of New Zealand Embroiderers’Guilds Inc). ANZEG assists members with education, workshops, resources and exhibitions.
Although they are called a “Guild”, there is nothing stuffy or exclusive about the group! It is a great place to learn about and share embroidery, both traditional and contemporary – everything from cross stitch to white work, surface stitch, canvas work and bead work to name but a few.
