Five women visual artists exhibit together.

In this time of social upheaval, the role of visual art provides a needed touchstone for connection and reflection. We are especially fortunate in Wellington to still be able to come together, and for visual art to ease anxiety and bring joy.

have something to say #3– is part of a collective exhibition series, supporting visual artists to listen to their creative voice and identify and develop their own inherently autobiographical aesthetic. The platform has evolved out of the need for them to share their art practice with others through exhibition and conversation with each other.

Five artists, with five creative visions - have something to say, at Te Auaha Galley, Ground Floor 65 Dixon St, Wellington.

“This is the third collective exhibition, with a fourth planned in early 2021,” says Margie Beattie who has collaborated with the artists and curated these exhibitions. “Have something to say not only provides an opportunity for artists, but for an arts audience, hungry for new art voices. As well as viewing the artworks over 10 days of the exhibition, there is an opportunity to come join the artists in conversation on Saturday 3rd October at 2pm or Sunday 4th October at 11am at Te Auaha gallery,” she says.

The five artists are:

- Sian Quennell Torrington – expressive artist working in drawing and unique installation and wearable sculpture

- Charlotte Handy – shows her breadth of art practice by stepping away from the easel and picking up her camera reflecting island life

- Nicki Manthel- Kapiti based painter and art teacher, who draws upon nature with her impressive and expressive mark making

- Jane Blackmore- unashamedly spiritual landscape oil painter, whose works deeply resonate and connect with the past and the future

- Georgie Johnson- exciting young ink and gouache artist, fascinated by social narratives, history and human behaviour, boldly a risk taker in her deconstructed visual images

For images and details of these five artists body of work go to Have Something to Say website.

A percentage of the sale proceeds from the artworks will go towards Wellington City Mission.
