Robyn's practice has evolved out of many years exploring harakeke as ecologically sound and culturally rich material for art-making and an interest in contemporary dance which dates back about a decade. Robyn is very interested in scale, using her own body as a measure. She is also interested in creating a sort of feminine alternative to traditional sculptural practice and processes, preferring lightness, tying, and binding, and using applied weight/tension to create rigidity with flexible materials. The connection with dance developed out of a desire to create movement within the harakeke forms, using human bodies instead of machines to animate forms.

As part of your ticket to The Arts Centre Sculpture Festival, you get free entry to the artist talks happening on that day. Buy your festival ticket now.
