Tutor - Barbara Woodman

This series of six 2 hour classes is for those who have mastered the basics in the beginner course or know how to knit and wish to extend their skills. Students must be able to knit garter and stocking stitch: cast on; bind off; increase and decrease and follow simple knitting pattern instructions.

Learn further techniques such as various texture stitches; cables; knitting in the round; colour work including fair isle and intarsia. Practise in class with the tutor’s support.

You will be required to knit at home between lessons and you will produce a cowl or hat that has been knitted on the round. (6 weeks).

Barbara Woodman is a multi-talented tutor who is passionate about waste minimisation and creativity. She runs workshops through her social enterprise Warm Hearts Upcycling, whose purpose is to minimise textile waste. She teaches one to one or groups in traditional skills such as knitting, crochet, sewing, applique, mending, remaking. As part of her community commitment she works with refugee women to develop their income and social connection.
