Poetry Performance

“A language older than words” – Visual artist James Robinson performs poems by David Eggleton at Quiet Dog Gallery.

“EDGELAND is the name of David Eggleton’s last poetry volume, so I use this word as a beginning. The resonance in the ‘Edge’ and ‘Land’ are vast symbolically. Literally in the material of the craft I’ve languaged the edges, either spliced cut joined de-constructed and heated.” —James Robinson

Exhibition
An installation of works created by visual artist James Robinson in response to the work of New Zealand poet laureate David Eggleton.

James Robinson was born in Christchurch in 1972 and currently lives in Dunedin. He completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts, Otago School of Fine Arts in 2000. In 2019 he won People’s Choice award at the Parkin Award exhibition in Wellington with In and Out, a large work from his Pyramid series. Robinson is known for creating deeply personal work that can shock, disarm and move us.

Exhibition at Quiet Dog Gallery opens 5.30pm Friday 16 October and runs until 14 November.
