Start the New Year with a new activity! Summer is a great time to try dragon boating.

Valley Dragonboat Club, with the support from the Wellington Dragon Boat Festival are holding a dragon boat Give It A Go Day.

Bring a partner, friends, parents (some paddlers are over 70!), children - 12 years and older - and experience this exciting activity together.

You'll be provided with a life jacket, paddle, and instruction by experienced dragon boaters. The event is on - rain or shine - if it is too windy, we'll stay in the lagoon for safety. If the weather is fantastic, we may even take you around the fountain in Oriental Bay. Either way, you'll have a wonderful time on the water, learn a new skill, and an experience to tell your friends about.

Did we mention it's free? So you'll have money left over to have a coffee - at Kaffee Eis (also great ice cream), Tuatua Cafe, or Karaka Cafe which are all great places to watch dragon boating from.
Would like to come but have other priorities on the 12th? No worries, just join one of our teams, we have room for more paddlers in our mixed and masters teams.

Don't know what to wear when dragon boating? Check out our website (see link at the top of this listing) or our Facebook page for other information.

Note: after some initial instruction on land, the boat(s) will be on the water from around 11:30 so if you tun up late, you may literally "miss the boat".

But do let us know if plan to attend (including how many in your group) by emailing us at vdcwellington@gmail.com so we know how many people to expect and can make sure enough equipment and supervision is available for all participants.
