Diwali 2020

The Indian community in Christchurch is very keen to broaden the parameters of the already successful Diwali festival to develop a unique event that encompasses and showcases the incredible diversity of the entire Indian culture through traditional festival activities, music, dance and food.
The event will include performers from all over the country presenting Indian classical, cultural, folk, and Bollywood performances. To help in strengthening relationships between Canterbury based businesses with the wider Canterbury community, we bring together an array of traditional Indian cuisines made by our locally acclaimed restaurants and chefs under one roof. Also, our trade stalls are here to promote, exhibit and experience Indian-art, handicraft, henna and traditional clothing.

Diwali provides a platform for the young budding talent to come forward and perform for the wider community. We encourage participation from a variety of dance groups. Last few years we have had participation from local New Zealand based Latin American groups, Irish groups, Bangladesh group and they were really happy to share a common platform to showcase their talent.

This event is alcohol-free and smoke-free which makes it a great place for friends & families to come together and enjoy festivity in a safe environment.
