We associate Antarctic history with heroism, sacrifice, exploration and adventure. Clashes between explorers, mutinies and collapsed winter stations are less well known.
This talk will introduce you to an expedition that ended in mutiny and recount how Ernest Shackleton had to fight for his Endurance expedition with Austrian explorer Felix König.
Speaker Dr Ursula Rack is an Adjunct Fellow of Gateway Antarctica, University of Canterbury, where she also teaches Antarctic history in Antarctic Studies courses.
This talk is free to attend but places are limited so please register on Canterbury Museum's website if you want to come along.
Part of Days of Ice.
