Da Vinci Talk was initially the name of an art salon we started in Guangzhou China, of which the participants were mainly art university students. We encouraged art students to communicate and interact with people from different academic disciplines, ages, and cultures. Thus, the idea to hold an art exhibition in New Zealand was born out of this context. We hope to bring the most genuine works of Chinese university students to New Zealand and, from this experience and exchange, help them to grow and mature as people. We believe that through these artworks New Zealand audiences can sincerely see the face of contemporary China as well as of Chinese young people. The theme for this exhibition - Wait and Hope - comes from The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas. This exhibition features the works of nine young artists from two of China’s most famous art universities. This is Da Vinci Talk’s first exhibition in New Zealand and is part of the Artweek Auckland 2020 Programme.
