The Arts Centre in partnership with The Physics Room is thrilled to host a series of intensive drawing workshops taught by artist Cushla Donaldson.

Donaldson considers drawing a root skill that everyone is born with—a joy that anyone can develop and learn from. "Drawing is not about representation so much as about truth. Its power is in its immediacy."

In these classes she will work to each individual’s skill level, alongside teaching various attitudes and approaches to drawing, and traditional drawing techniques.

We are aiming to have a small exhibition of the final drawings in The Arts Centre for those who wish to participate. Drawings are also beautiful gifts, so the end goal of the workshop is to have at least one final drawing the participant would like to pass on to a loved one.

The course will be held over three sessions and participants must be able to attend all three sessions:

Class One – Tuesday 11 February
6.00pm – 8.00pm
Still Life + Drawing Exercises

Class Two – Wednesday 12 February
6.00pm – 8.00pm
Life Drawing

Class Three – Thursday 13 February
6.00pm – 8.00pm
Students will work on drawings from the first two sessions

Exhibition opening – Friday 14 February
5:00pm – 6:00pm

Basic materials will be provided. Please feel free to bring any special papers or drawing tools you may wish to use.

Award winning artist Cushla Donaldson has taught the subject of drawing at ELAM School of Fine Arts and lectured at various other institutions. She has a BFA from Elam School of Fine Arts and an MFA from Goldsmith College, University of London.
