Zimbabwean born and raised, Thabani Gapara is an Auckland based saxophonist who has been performing around the world in various musical projects for the last decade.
The “Thabani Gapara Project” released an album titled “In Their Footsteps” in March 2020 a live video album that features a mix of arrangements of music from a variety of his influences that include: Moses Khumalo, Stevie Wonder, Hugh Masekela, Richard Bona, Fela Kuti, Roy Hargrove, Kirk Whalum and Moses Molelekwa to mention but a few.
The concert will feature music from the recent album along with original music that the group has been preparing for a release date later in the year. Audience members can expect an evening of music tailored to groove the house and give listeners a taste of Southern African funk and Jazz.
