We have two great acts for you at 12 Bar.
Billy Vallance (harmonica) and Jon Hooker (finger style blues guitar) met in 1995 at the Whitecliffs Festival and have been wowing audiences ever since. They have recorded two fine CD's Lovehound (2002) and Return to Greendale (2011). Come hear music from the Mississippi Delta to Chicago and beyond. Billy and Jon are perhaps Christchurch's longest-running blues duo, and when you hear them it shows.
Boogie House make their debut on the 12 Bar stage at 9.30pm. Do you like it spicy? Well new local band Boogie House have got all the blues and roots flavours to satisfy everybody. From Chicago blues classics to New Orleans funk, Cajun, Jump blues and a few modern twists, Boogie House will get the dancers jiving and the toes tappers tapping!
Led by long time Christchurch musician Harry Harrison on guitar, slide guitar and vocals, the band also boasts the soulful sax/keyboards of Justine S, and one of the tightest rhythm sections in town, Robbie ‘Carps’ Carpenter on bass and Jonty O’Connor on drums. And as a special treat, watch out for when the band appears with special guest vocalist, the mighty Steve Driver! Get down and boogie!
