Ben Ratima

The soulful vocals of Ben Ratima are reminiscent of a love for old school artists such as Stevie Wonder, The Doors and is inspired by kiwi heavyweights, such as The Herbs, Katchafire and Kora.

Ben Ratima is a singer/songwriter who grew up in Maungaturoto in the Kaipara and from a young age has had a musical presence surrounding him.

Soljah was formed in 2009 and was nominated for the NZ Music Awards Best Roots Album in 2013 alongside Fat Freddy's Drop and Latinaotearoa. Soljah also appeared in New Zealand's first Reggae Muffin Road Trip Tour in 2012 alongside Fiji, Sons Of Zion and many more.

Ben Ratima has been wowing audiences with his incredible skills on the loop pedal since Soljah parted ways in 2014. He is currently mentoring youth, working on new material and continues to inspire & change lives. You can't ignore the prowess and commanding authority that flows, the groove is in his veins, he is very contagious and it's inevitable once you hear him you will be pulled into his music like quick sand.
