A personal derailment was the foreshadow that formed the catalyst for seven months of travel, taking our two girls Olivia (11) and Arabella (9) out of school to do so.
The travel was magnificent, but more than just the external act of the trip itself, the journey was an enlightening and a deeply-desired sabbatical filled with revelations found in personal contemplation and reflection.
Join me for some personal travel pictures I shot for the pure self-indulgent pleasure of wanting to. You'll learn how our time out has impacted our photography business. I’ll share a selection of portraits and stories from my Being Human at 100 project. Plus, digging deeper into how what goes on in our heads influences what we choose in our own lives.
Katherine Williams runs Christchurch based portrait and wedding studio, Tandem Photography alongside her husband, Neil. NZIPP Iris Awards NZ Professional Photographer of the Year 2019 and 2016 and former NZIPP president, Katherine has been photographing professionally since the age of 19. Her true photographic passions lie in environmental portraiture, documentary photography and telling stories about real people. She’s recently started working on a personal project, a 'slow project' - photographing and interviewing Centenarians worldwide #beinghumanat100
Following Katherine's inspiring story, we invite you to join us for an image critique ahead of the 2020 NZIPP Iris Awards. This years awards are being held online for the first time with many wonderful benefits, such as cheaper entry rates, unlimited number of entries permitted, and no timeframe for when the image must have been taken!
Bring your entries along on a USB so we can share anonymously with the group. If you have printed images, you are welcome to bring those too!
This event will be held in the upstairs loft of the Horse and Trap. Self funded food and drink available.
