Come and listen to vocal and instrumental Christmas music from the last 1000 years, presented by the Schola Cantorum, conducted by Felicity O'Brien, and the Renaissance Elizabethan Consort, directed by Roger Buckton.

Schola Cantorum was founded in 1987 to preserve and perform the rich tradition of Mediaeval and Renaissance music, including plain chant, polyphony & madrigals. Now in its 33rd year, the choir performs in concerts and church services, a cappella and with orchestras, mediaeval instrument groups and other choirs. Schola Cantorum are always looking for new members. If you or someone you know would like to sing early music with us then please email us at ScholaCan@gmail.com.

Renaissance is a Christchurch-basedmusic consort performing early music on period instruments. It has a particular focus on an Elizabethan repertoire called "broken" or "mixed" consort music, known for its mixture of plucked and bowed string instruments along with a flute or recorder. It is arguably the first chamber music ever written in which particular instruments were specifically named. The repertoire has been developed using the music of various tudor collections.
