Join Kaitiaki Taonga Māori, Hamuera Robb (Ngāti Kuia, Ngāti Apa ki te Rā Tō and Ngāti Koata) for an opportunity to meet some of the pounamu taonga housed at the Nelson Provincial Museum.

A key point of focus during this presentation will be on taonga collected by the British-based ethnographic art dealer William Oldman, who - over the period of the late 19th and early 20th centuries - amassed the world’s largest private collection of taonga Māori.

Hear the many stories associated with taonga, whenua and people. Gain a behind-the-scenes understanding of a Museum’s role in protecting such taonga. Learn what makes our treasured pounamu stone so unique.
