Tuesday: Ballet Soloists and Duets, Modern Soloists and Duets.
Wednesday: Modern Soloists and Duets.
Thursday: Modern Soloists, Duets and Troupes.
Friday: Tap Soloists and Duets.

The Wanganui Competitions Society was established in 1912. The mission of our society is to hold festivals throughout the year to give children, youth and adults a platform to perform their selected performing arts and gain constructive feedback of these performances. These entrants also have the opportunity to compete for National Awards. Entrants of these competitions have gone on to compete nationally and internationally, with many taking their passion for performing arts into Adulthood.

Currently the WCS has classes for Dance, (Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Modern, Hip Hop, and Groups) Speech and Drama, Vocal and Instrumental. From 2020 the WCS will also be holding a festival for Highland Dance. Historically there were also classes for Highland Dancing, Jump Rope, and more!

“Our job, as the committee, is to ensure the continued running of these local competitions, ensuring that the integrity of the society is maintained for future entrants. Here’s to another 100 years.”
