Di Halstead, Alice Ng, Lieve Van den Bosch, Karen Williamson and Barbara Cope are five female photographers connected through gender, voice and shared exhibition history since 2013. They have been instrumental in producing and curating several group shows for the Auckland Festival of Photography, notably with their previous group, Matakana Images.
The dynamic has evolved and the five now exhibit collectively as The Locus Group. Their continued focus explores themes of time, place, memory and identity, creating a body of new works that integrate core themes in their personal practice with the Festival’s theme of Fissure.
Torn explores the physical and allegorical dimensions of ‘Fissure' as it applies to changing landscapes and personal journeys, expressing individual ideas in ways that attract the viewer’s curiosity and open minds to the possibilities of the visual image.
With the support of the Auckland North Creative Communities Scheme.
In conjunction, a Photo Safari workshop will be held for children aged 8 years plus. This workshop empowers young enthusiasts to 'have a go' at photography along with an accompanying adult, encouraging an ongoing creative dynamic and an opportunity to exhibit alongside The Locus Group photographers.
Meet at the Depot on Sunday 9th June from 12.30 to 2:00pm, bring a camera.
