Wellington will soon be treated to a joyful, thrilling and tightly-packed showcase of diverse toi pasifika talent at Te Auaha – the New Zealand Institute of Creativity. Throwback is an exciting new show with a nod to the past; a collection of kapa haka, Siva Samoa, Cook Islands and contemporary music and choreography that celebrates the history of the school’s Performing Arts course while looking to its future.

Led by a cohort of tutors who are all graduates of the Performing Arts course, Throwback is dedicated in gratitude to the staff and students who’ve contributed to the course’s success over the years.

“This production acknowledges and celebrates the people who have learned, taught and performed these artforms over the past 29 years”, says kapa haka tutor and choreographer Krystal Clarke. “They created the foundation that we are fortunate enough to keep building upon.”

Looking for a day outing for your school, club or community group? With two shows each day from 25 June to 28 June, Throwback is the perfect opportunity for you, your school, and your community to experience a dynamic celebration of NZ/Pacific performance. School and Community group tickets to the 10.30am and 1pm day shows are just $10 each, with teachers and chaperones free of charge. (Group bookings for daily shows are essential - contact venues@teahaua.com to secure your attendance).
