The Ocean Needs Us - By Glenn and Janey Edney.
Mena kei te hauora te moana ka pera ano te hauora o te iwi:
If the Ocean is healthy so too will the people be healthy.
For too long the delusion of separation has influenced modern human behaviour. Sometimes called the 'Separation Sickness', this delusional belief that humankind is somehow separate from the rest of the natural world has led us to the brink of planetary ecological collapse. On the other hand, when we “re-member” ourselves as A Part Of, rather than Apart From, the natural world, we can see that it is only some of our behaviour that is out of place and out of harmony with the natural rhythms of our shared home. The focus of this talk is Moananui - the great Ocean realm.
Ocean ecologist Glenn Edney will introduce you to the many and varied ways in which the Ocean supports our very existence; he will also discuss what the Ocean needs from us in order to return to a state of robust and resilient ecological health, and how she can help us re-find our place within the natural world.
