Contemporary dance is an expressive style that allows the dancers to use the mind and body to showcase a range of emotions. The focus on beautiful technique combined with the expressive nature lets the choreography and dancer tell a story. Contemporary can be done to pretty, slow songs, classical music or even spoken word.

Otis specialises in Contemporary dance and loves to create organic and creative routines that inspire his students. Otis is a highly technical dancer and is a native of College Park,Georgia, USA, and received his dance training and BFA from Howard University in Washington, D.C. Otis danced for several notable companies in New York between 2007-2013, including Ronald K. Brown/ Evidence, A dance company, Camille A.

Brown & Dancers, and was Assistant to the choreographer for Broadway’s “A Streetcar Named Desire.” Otis has resided in Auckland for the past 6 years dancing with Black Grace Dance Company for 4 years, Trip The Light Dance Collective, modeling for the World of Wearable Art (WOW), and Teaching ASA! African fitness class. He enjoys acting, crotcheting, sewing, and is delighted to share his knowledge with the Empire whānau.
