At the venue of Radhe's regular Wednesday evening Yoga class, Kara Kokopu Community Hall.
This workshop has a big focus on breathing correctly and on gradually learning Pranayama. As breathing 'the best that we can' is invaluable for better health, the full yogic breath is taught/revisited, advantageous to all, including those new to yoga.
Asana (exercises/postures), Surya Namaskara (Salute to the Sun) – taught in stages – and specialised Pranayama (breathing techniques).
This includes an in-depth exploration of Bhastrika, (bellows breath).
Bhastrika builds prana, or energy in the system, aids in clearing the respiratory system – ideal for winter – and increases the sense of overall wellbeing.
Nadi Shodhana pranayama and Ujjayi pranayama are slow, calming breathing practices which are also amongst those practised over the course of the 3 hours.
The practices finish with a short meditation.
This workshop is a great winter ‘tonic’ that will help build up resistance and improve mood to ‘beat the winter blues’. We will technically into the next season of spring by September but what better way to wipe out the remnants of winter out of our systems and give us a lift towards summer!
