In an atmospheric performance of dance, music and video production, six atua wahine (female deities) control and release the winds of the world.

Inspired by a Kāi Tahu tradition, as told by Teone Taare Tikao, Onepū has been co-created by celebrated choreographer and dancer Louise Potiki Bryant, who is also the show’s video artist.

Adding to this expression of mana wahine (the intrinsic power of women), is a rich, layered soundtrack composed by vocalist and taonga pūoro artist Ariana Tikao and Paddy Free of multimedia electronic duo Pitch Black fame.

This work from Atamira Dance Company is a meditation on the different qualities brought to us on the winds of each these mighty atua wahine.

Joining Louise in this spirited and powerful work are performers Rosie Tapsell, Jasmin Canuel, Presley Ziogas and Imogen Tapara.

Embracing this ancient story through light, video, sound and movement, Onepū will stir deep emotions and take audiences to another place and time.
