Northart Gallery

All graduates within the past decade from various Auckland art schools, Dominique Baker, Yvonne Abercrombie, Katie Theunissen and Ben Keeley will exhibit on their own under the joint banner of ‘Off Broadway’.

In her first Northart show, Dominique combines her love of painting and carving in works directly related to her dual Māori/Japanese heritage. Yvonne’s figurative works, too, are autobiographical. Katie’s paintings are easily recognised as landscapes, yet resist interpretation as any straightforward representation of place.

And Ben’s body of work responds to the phenomenon of chaos and the idea that chaos is a state of balance, rather than disorder.
