Octavius is a small, Napier-based choir which sings a huge range of music, mostly in eight-part harmonies. This concert will include familiar English folk songs like "Barbara Allen" and "Bobby Shaftoe", some great Gershwin tunes, and Spirituals such as “I Got a Robe” and “Deep River”.

Two beautiful pieces by contemporary American composer Eric Whitacre will captivate with intricate harmonies, and talking of lovely harmony - the choir loves singing NZ jazz musician Barry Brinson’s version of “Berkley Square”.

There is even a Beatles song, the lovely “Blackbird,” and some Richard Rogers show tunes too. The audience can also look forward to joining the choir after the concert for refreshments, including hot soup and scones, provided by the hospitality team at the church. This invitation promises an afternoon outing with something for everyone to enjoy.
