The best high school students in New Zealand have played off in regional competitions to represent their area in the national secondary school championships in golf croquet.

Previous winners of this tournament have become Under 21 World Champions, most recently Edmund Fordyce from Methven. There are 24 teams of two players. The standard of play is very high and competition will be intense. The public is welcome to view the competition free of charge at the United Croquet Club in Hagley Park. Parking is convenient and free in the two areas provided for the Botanic Gardens, end of Armagh Street and Riccarton Avenue, opposite the tennis courts.
