Come join us for the full-on fun that is an afternoon of roller derby action! The doors open from 1pm and the first whistle blows at 1:30pm! First up the Sulphur City Steam Rollers' Motley Crew from Rotorua will be playing Nelson Bay's Sirens of Smash, before Tauranga's own Moana Roller Derby Salty Rollers take them on for a second game at 4pm. We're pretty excited about this one - as far as we're aware this is the first time these teams have ever faced off!
About roller derby:
Roller derby is a contact sport played by two teams of five members roller skating in the same direction (counter-clockwise) around a track. Game play consists of a series of short match ups (jams) in which a player from each team (a jammer) scores points by lapping members of the opposing team.
