Living Meaningfully, Dying Joyfully ~ with residential teacher and Buddhist nun Gen Kelsang Demo

Death is inevitable. We know this. But often we have no real understanding or acceptance of this basic fact of life.

Many of us are reluctant to think too much about either our own death, or the death of those who are close to us.

It is a topic that we often avoid; possibly because we are worried that thinking or talking about death will feel sad, or heavy, or frightening.

In this half-day course, Gen Demo will explain how coming to terms with our mortality can actually enrich our life, and how this wisdom enables us to feel a sense of relief and confidence which removes our fear.

An acceptance and understanding of our own and others' impermanence can help us change our focus from what is superficial, unnecessary or negative - to those things which are of real importance.
Our emphasis begins to shift from what is meaningless to what is meaningful.

The course will also offer you the chance to engage in the traditional Buddhist practice of Powa: a ceremony of special chanted prayers that is used as a very peaceful and uplifting method of expressing our love and our heartfelt wishes for the future well-being and peace of those who have died.
