“I’m Paired” by Touch Compass flips the perception of impairment on its head, realising the beauty in everyone’s unique talent. This series of new works uses a variety of dance and theatre genres that celebrate our diverse society.

The work is as inspiring as it is experimental as the Company uses dance, new technologies and collaborates with a diverse range of artists from other mediums to give the audience a sneak peak at the world through the Touch Compass lens.

A selection of our incredible duets to give you a flavour of what's in store;

Be prepared to be captivated by The Language of Colour, a duet with visual artist Yung Chen and dancer Julie Van Renen. Working together to create a unique performance piece that combines Yung’s ability to express his feelings and emotions through his work with his passion for performance.

The result is an interdisciplinary story that shows the world through Yung’s unique perspective as a person living with cerebral palsy, as he creates a piece of art that is interpreted through Julie’s movement.

Joanna Pearce, accomplished transgender playwright, orchestrates a unique duet theatre piece and you will be delighted with our inclusive youth hip-hop crew 'Integr8' as they bring you something new from their repertoire, choreographed by Colette Wilson.

Be mesmerised by Drift, a beautiful duet on wheels choreographed by the well known Sarah Foster Sproull and brought to life by award winning integrated performer Rodney Bell (Ngati Maniapoto) partnered with Julie Van Renen. Two friends dance a strange tango together, drifting in and out of contact with each other while throwing down playful challenges of speed, dynamic, and gestural communication.

And there will be so much more besides! But if we tell you all, there will be nothing left to surprise you, so grab your tickets and come along to see this show and see how we challenge perceptions and seek out the unique.
