‘Hinepuawaitanga is the blossoming of the feminine energies'.

This series of wānanga is for wahine Maaori who can whakapapa to Ngati Kahungunu or Ngati Porou. It focuses on the healing of wāhine as leading educators, healers and nurturers of the whanau. Using a grass roots approach, the wānanga has engaged Māori healing facilitators with real life healing experiences using romiromi to deal with trauma, abuse and addictions.

For the mothers, grandmothers, aunties, daughters and granddaughters, these romiromi wananga will offer a range of Maori healing tools to address mamae from addictions, abuse, grief, eating disorders, domestic violence, physical injuries, depression, anxiety, spiritual imbalances, cultural alienation and many more.

Western health services and counselling does not always work for us as Maori because it uses a deficit model of unwellness. Romiromi Maori healing is a way of life that links us into resources of Papatuanuku (mother nature) so we can start healing our own whanau using the healing lore of our ancestors.

There is no cost for these workshops and will prioritise wahine in low income households. Bring a healthy kai to share for lunch and be prepared to learn some hands on romiromi healing work for your whanau.

Our line up of facilitators are Barbara Niania - psychotherapist and romiromi practitioner, Charlotte Mildon - Te Oomai Reia romiromi teacher, Te Ataarangi Whenua Waaka - Maori healer of Ancient Resonance and Whetu Marama Kire - Maori health manager and matekite.

- Experienced things I didn't before. Amazing experience
- All the senses have been awoken for learning. The variety of activities helped to ignore all the senses for learning and sharing. I will take what I have learned back to the whanau.
- I found myself totally relaxed in the romiromi wananga. It triggered cellular memories. It felt like a natural extension of who I am.

Head to the event page on Facebook to Register - this is important.

Please note: to meet the TPK policy Vulnerable Children's Act 2014, we are unable to have children at these wānanga.
