The carvings of Wairarapa-based artist Harry Watson speak of the culture clash between colonial and post-colonial New Zealand by recreating and subverting the narrative of our country’s history.

Harry Watson has had several solo and group exhibitions across Aotearoa, and this is not his first solo show at Aratoi. In 2011, he mounted the solo exhibition "That was then. This is now." and also led a charity art auction to support survivors of the Christchurch earthquake.

Meet the artist at the Exhibition Opening of "Modern Primitives" - Friday, 27 September, 5.30pm.
The exhibition continues until November 24th.

Open daily 10am - 4pm.
