Full Day Hike

Venture deep into ZEALANDIA and explore the far corners of the sanctuary where the wildlife sights and sounds are at their richest.

Participants will get the opportunity to explore the upper valley and learn about conservation efforts at ZEALANDIA. After following the Valley View Track south, they will head up the Pylon Track and undertake a check of a section of fence and some tracking tunnels.

Heading down Turbine Track, they will visit popular tuatara haunts in the valley and upper valley feeders. On the Round the Lake Track they will get to see the wealth of birdlife that can be found there including toutouwai, tīeke and hīhī before returning to the Visitor Centre via Te Mahanga Track. Max group size is 15.

A reasonable level of fitness is required. Comfortable hiking shoes or boots are essential.

Suitable for youth aged 14 - 25 years, or family groups (minimum age 12 years).
