Considered one of the greatest films ever made, E.T. isn’t simply the best film in its class - it’s the only one. Steven Speilberg and Melissa Mathison wrote a poem. And all the best movies are poems.
In this poem our hero Elliott, a lonely 10-year-old boy who develops a strange, but close attachment for a desirable alien. A pint-size creature from another planet that has been left to wander forlornly in a barren-looking suburb of Los Angeles.
The film is told almost entirely from a child’s point of view, and we see little if anything of the grown-up world through grown-up eyes. Most scenes are photographed from low angles, reflecting the point of view of the young protagonist and his child-sized alien friend.
Filled with innocence, hope, and good cheer, a tender, loving movie that simply glows with affection for all creatures, great and small.
Whether you're watching the movie for the first time or the 20th, you leave more than satisfied - you leave renewed.
Beautiful 35mm print.
