Experience the colour and vibrancy of Diwali—the Festival of Lights. Join Wellington’s local Indian and South East Asian communities for their biggest cultural celebration of the year.

The lighting of lamps at this ancient Hindu festival symbolises the triumph of light over darkness, good over evil, and the renewal of life. At Diwali you’ll find delicious Indian vegetarian food stalls, traditional and contemporary dance, music and fashion, arts, crafts and henna stalls.

Enjoy eight hours of non-stop cultural entertainment from local, regional and international artists showcasing traditional, contemporary, folk, fusion and much loved Bollywood and Bhangra performances.

Later in the evening, head to Frank Kitts Park to watch the Cottrell Law fireworks display at 9.15pm. Gold coin entry.

Thanks to Lion, Cottrell Law, Asia New Zealand Foundation and all our sponsors for helping to bring this event to life.
