A tribute to Frances Hodgkins (1869–1947) marking 150 years since her birth, 'Hand In Hand: Photographers and Painters Alike' focuses on the artist’s early career in Dunedin during the 1890s. Featuring notable examples of her figurative painting alongside photographs taken by members of her close circle, ‘Hand in Hand’ visually explores the part photography played in Hodgkins’ increasingly free-spirited work and demonstrates how photographers and painters united at the time in their desire to produce art.
