The 2019 Creative New Zealand Toi Aotearoa Intern, Milly Mitchell-Anyon, uses the 1888-90 and 1925-26 South Seas Exhibitions to think about public space.

Following these exhibitions, Dunedin went through a beautification boom; constructing new roads, buildings, museums, galleries and public parks, reflecting both a particular moment in time and a particular set of values. Civic Pride considers how we might reflect on, extend, and critique these spaces within a contemporary context.
