For Christine White it all began with the grandiose, evocative melodies of the pentecostal Baptist movement and moved through the raw, smoke-filled, beer-smelling couches, festivals, pubs and city cafes of 1990s New Zealand. Christine combines the visceral power of melody with a strong back-beat and evocative twang of the guitar to create memorable songs.
She brings the songs from her latest album 'when the things that heal you hurt you and the things that hurt you heal you '.
"...a gentle quasi-ambient folk sonic/soundscape... highly recommended." - Graham Reid (elsewhere.co.nz)
Mark L will do an opening set from 7pm. Saturdays @ 121 don't have a door charge, however we have a koha teapot on the counter & your contributions for the musicians are greatly appreciated.
