The enduring archetype of unoaked, mineral and racy Chardonnay - Chablis is ever the darling of fine wine collectors for its ability to age gracefully.
With a few notable recent exceptions, the pantheon of Chablisien producers is well established. Unfortunately, this also means that many younger students of wine find it difficult to taste the benchmark wines on which the region’s reputation was formed.
In the interests of education, we have put together a rare eight-wine lineup of iconic Chablis producers; hard-to-find and fabled wines like Dauvissat and Raveneau as well as highly regarded new and natural producers like Alice and Olivier de Moor.
The selection is designed to give a top-down and definitive view of the region so we have carefully inserted several key Premier Crus alongside Grand Cru and Village lieux-dits. As much of the fame of Chablis comes from its ability to age, the wines also span a range of maturity to demonstrate what these wines taste like when they have had time to develop in bottle.
As with many of our masterclasses, this is a single-bottle event and seats will be strictly limited. If you’ve ever wanted to taste the benchmarks of this classic region, come and join Stephen Wong, our resident Master of Wine on this journey through the chalk-laced hills of Chablis.
