Who's ready to get their hands dirty on the bug hunt of a lifetime?
This Wellington Anniversary Weekend (19-21st January), come and join the rangers at Pukaha National Wildlife Centre to uncover the secret world of weird and wonderful bugs that call our restored forest home. Keep your eyes peeled for weta, spiders, giraffe weevils, stick insects, and more - you never know what you might find!
The first 100 children will receive a special Bug Pack containing a magnifying glass, bug identification sheet, and coloring pencils. With each insect you find, color in the picture and then pop along to the Visitor Centre to be in to win a spot prize.
This is a fantastic opportunity to see conservation in action at Pukaha, a breeding facility home to Kahurangi the kokako and Manukura the white kiwi. You may also like to combine your visit with one of our scheduled feeding talks:
11 am - Tuatara
12 pm - Kiwi
1.30 pm - Eels
3 pm - Kākā
Our Kākā Cafe serves up delicious food made fresh each day served overlooking some of New Zealand's last takahe - just watch out for the inquisitive kākā!
We are just 20 minutes north of Masterton and an hour and a half from Wellington in the heart of the mighty Wairarapa.
See you then!
