For one night only each year the heart of Glen Innes Town Centre lights up for Bradley Lane Illuminated, a unique and free community celebration of the arts thriving in the Auckland suburb.

Bradley Lane Illuminated takes place in the Glen Innes Town Centre, now home to 30 outdoor murals – the highest concentration of outdoor murals in Auckland – painted by some of NZ’s best street artists. Local artist Gary Silipa has curated an exciting programme to fill the town centre with elements of light, live performances and other activities. This event invites audiences of all ages and backgrounds from across Tāmaki Makaurau on an adventure through public space to experience the flourishing creativity and street art in Glen Innes.

The 2019 iteration of Bradley Lane Illuminated includes the main promenade show followed by a programme showcasing up and coming talent. A strong line-up of cultural and urban artists includes breakdancing from Te Oro Breaking Crew & Friends, beatboxing master King Homeboy, DMC Scratch Champion DJ Wil.K The Baddist, kapa haka group Te Āmiorangi from Ruapotaka Marae, dance meets comedy with Jandel J & the Funky Friends and more. POP will also bring their Big Bang interactive and light up drums to Glen Innes, for an evening of collaboration, rhythm and light.

On the night you can also check out the visual art exhibition at Te Oro with works from Emily Karaka, Chantel Matthews-Perawiti, Claudine Mailei, Brendan Kitto, Sean Hill and Gary Silipa, take a free guided tour of the specially lit street art to learn more about the artists and stories behind the murals, and don’t forget to pick up a free booklet containing full-colour images of all the murals as a special gift to take home.

Bradley Lane Illuminated is presented by The Good The Bad Charitable Trust and proudly supported by Maungakiekie-Tāmaki Local Board, Tāmaki Regeneration Company, Creative New Zealand, Te Oro and Glen Innes Business Association.
