Music Director Peter Walls and Opus Orchestra present Born in the USA, celebrating the great American composer Samuel Barber and bringing Russian cellist sensation Lev Sivkov to delight audiences.

It isn’t easy to stand out from the world’s elite musicians, but Sivkov is a shining star on the international stage, taking out prestigious competition titles and winning over the toughest of critics. And New Zealand has noticed – Orchestra Wellington and the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra have also chosen Sivkov as guest performer this year.

Sivkov will perform Barber’s Cello Concerto. He is perfectly suited to carry this lyrical and expressive work that demands outstanding technique and dramatic aplomb.

Beautiful music from Schumann, New Zealander Chris Adams and Mozart add to make this programme a winter-warmer for the soul.
