The very popular annual Blue Dragon Book Fair will be held in the Ngaio Town Hall on Saturday 25 May to raise money for the Vietnamese Blue Dragon Children's Centre, based in Hanoi.
All of the money raised goes directly to Blue Dragon, whose mission is to help children escape from crisis by offering a range of services, including rescue from slavery, shelter, education and employment. Blue Dragon kids are street kids, children with disabilities, children from rural families living in extreme poverty, and victims of human trafficking and slavery.
To date, Blue Dragon has rescued more than 700 people who have been trafficked. Many of the young women are sold to brothels or into forced marriages in China. Other young people are taken to factories in big cities like Ho Chi Minh City, where they work 18-hour days every day of the week with little food and money.
If you have books to donate, the Blue Dragon NZ trustees would be grateful it you could hold on to the books until the end of April, if possible. Then please contact us and we will let you know where they can be dropped off or we can arrange to collect them.
We also welcome DVDs and CDs, plus games and puzzles.
